It's not often Captain America turns to mere mortals for help but the shield-wielding wonder had to rely on Comrie-born Carly Booth on Saturday when some wild tropical weather hit southern China's Hainan Island.

Chris Evans - who plays the superhero in the movie franchises that have sprung up around the Marvel Comic character - has been paired with the 22-year-old Booth at the Mission Hills World Celebrity Pro-Am this weekend and he found life hard as the rain came down and his powers started to desert him.

"I think I am a little more used to heavy rain than he is," said Booth. "I taught him something he can take away with him, I thought. I just kept telling him to relax and enjoy it, even though he was nervous as he'd never played in front of the cameras before."

The two-time European Ladies Tour title winner comes from pretty impressive stock, with farming father Wally winning wrestling silver at the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica, while finding time to moonlight as a minder for The Beatles. But Booth still admitted to being a star-struck walking out on to the first tee.

"I'm a huge fan of Chris's," said the former junior star. "I was so excited to hear first that he was coming here and then that I would be playing with him. It's a bit of a dream come true."

The Booth-Evans pairing looks out of the race for the team event in Hainan, sitting sevens strokes behind the leaders, but Booth is not without a shot of the individual title as she enters the final days tied for eighth place with England's Ian Poulter, four strokes behind England's Simon Dyson.
