Andrew McArthur continued his good early season form with a second place finish in the European Challenge Tour's Made in Denmark Challenge in Copenhagen.

On a tough, testing day in the Danish capital, the former Scottish Amateur champion from Glasgow posted a three-over 74 in the swirling, gusting winds for a two-over aggregate of 286 as he finished just a shot behind eventual winner, Max Orrin.

The 21-year-old Orrin, a former Walker Cup player, harnessed the conditions to good effect with a battling 71 that helped him win the second Challenge Tour title of his blossoming career.

McArthur, who had a top-20 on the main European Tour in Mauritius last week, said: "It's always a bit strange when you finish second. Obviously there is a kind of disappointment because I was just one short of at least a play-off but then it's a good result and I need to start taking the positives from these results."

On the amateur scene, Ayrshire were crowned the GolfKings Scottish Area Team Championship winners after defeating Dumbartonshire 5 ½ - 3 ½ in the final at Blairgowrie.

Inspired by Jack McDonald, the GB&I Walker Cup squad member, Ayrshire, who beat defending champions Renfrewshire and hot favourites Perth & Kinross en route to the final, won the title for only the third time in the event's 38-year history.
