Paul McKechnie took another step towards a return to the Challenge Tour by sharing fifth in the PGA EuroPro Tour's Eagle Orchid Scottish Masters at Montrose.

The Glasgow golfer, who is on course for promotion, cemented his place in the upper reaches with a closing three-under 68 for a three-under 210.

McKechnie finished two shots behind winner Oliver Farr, while North Berwick rookie Neil Henderson shared 10th and Kirkhill's Paul Shields moved up with a 214. Ranfurly Castle amateur Sam Binning's round was five-under.
