Gary Orr made an early move into the card-winning places during day two of the six-round European Tour Qualifying School final at PGA Catalunya in Girona.

The 44-year-old from Helensburgh, back in the scramble after finishing down in 137th place on the Race to Dubai rankings this season, posted a tidy three-under 69 over the tough Stadium course for a five-under aggregate of 137.

Orr, a two-time European Tour winner, finished in a share of 26th, with the leading 30 after the rigorous 108-hole test earning a tour card for 2012.

English youngster Sam Hutsby, who set a blistering pace with a 10-under 60 on Saturday, added a three-under 69 to his tally to lead by two strokes on 129, 13 under.

Chris Doak, the former Scottish PGA champion, continued his steady progress with a two-under 68 on the Tour course for 139, while Steven O'Hara picked up a trio of birdies around the turn in a 67 for 140.

O'Hara was joined on that mark by Alastair Forsyth, who had a 70, with Scott Drummond, the 2004 PGA champion, a shot further back on 141 after a spirited 66.

Callum Macaulay and Elliot Saltman both finished with 143s while Lloyd Saltman, six under for his round after nine holes on the Tour course, spilled three shots coming home in a 67 for 144. Alan McLean sagged to a 78, 10 shots worse than his first round, and tumbled down the order on 146.
