Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie will be watching WGC-Accenture Matchplay with burning interest this week

Colin Montgomerie has identified the big-hitting Spaniard, Alvaro Quiros, as the kind of player he would love to have in his European Ryder Cup team that will try to regain the trophy from the US in Wales in October.

The 27-year-old will meet Canadian former Masters champion Mike Weir in today’s first round of the WGC-Accenture Matchplay Championship in Arizona in a tournament which captain Montgomerie said he would be watching every shot of as his team starts to take shape.
