Taking the rough with the smooth will cause Garcia no problems

Medinah has been something of a happy hunting ground for Sergio Garcia down the years.

In 2006, he finished third behind Tiger Woods in the US PGA Championship. Seven years earlier, the Spaniard was runner-up to Woods in that same event.

It was during the 1999 edition of the PGA Championship that Garcia endeared himself to the watching world. Seemingly stymied behind a tree on the right side of the 16th hole, the then 19-year-old took an almighty lash at his ball and then sprinted off down the fairway in hot pursuit while performing an excited scissors kick in the process. That particular tree has since been felled by the members.
