All eyes will be on Gleneagles this week but just up the road at Blairgowrie there will ample opportunity to get a keek at the stars of tomorrow as the Junior Ryder Cup gets under way at the Perthshire course.

The mixed-team contest has a stellar list of past campaigners including the likes of Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Victor Dubuisson, Jordan Spieth and Lexi Thompson and a fresh crop of European and American talent will get the chance to shine on Scottish soil from today.

Bradley Neil, the Blairgowrie member and reigning Amateur champion, will attract a considerable amount of attention from the home galleries and the 18-year-old is relishing the prospect of the transatlantic tussle in his own backyard.

"I set my goals every year and making the Eisenhower Trophy and GB&I teams has been great," said Neil of a fine season. "But I wanted to play here in the Junior Ryder Cup and it was a massive relief making the team. I have had my best ever season and this is a great way to round off my career in the junior ranks.

"All around the club and Blairgowrie people are taking an interest. But the only pressure I will feel is what I put on myself.

"I don't feel extra pressure because people here are wishing me well. I have such high expectations to do well and every week I was doing well was taking me one step closer to making the Junior Ryder Cup team. I was growing more and more confident of making it."

Forfar's Stuart Wilson, the former Amateur champion, will captain Team Europe in the two-day battle.
