HE may not be heading home with a medal but Paralympic swimmer Craig Rodgie insists he will leave London with a lifetime of memories at the end of his campaign.

The 22-year-old completed his schedule finishing third in his morning heat of the S14 200m freestyle, clocking 2.05.59 to miss out on a spot in the final by just two seconds.

Rodgie was also frustrated in the 100m backstroke earlier in the week, failing to reach the eight-lane final after finishing 12th in his event in the Aquatics Centre.

But while he won't need to clear the mantelpiece when he arrives back home, the University of Edinburgh swimmer admits he'll never tire of talking about the Games.

"Nothing is going to beat this for me," he said. "To say I've competed in London, I've been to the Paralympic Games I'm going to take this with me forever I'll hopefully tell my kids, my grandkids, it's been a great time.

"I'm disappointed with the time but it has been great fun for me, that's the end of my competition now but I've really enjoyed it.

"The crowd were great and I've just loved it. I feel disappointed that I didn't hit my PB, you train so long just to get this one moment and then you hope for a PB but today wasn't my day so I'm just going to have to go back and improve.

"I thought I could PB but you have some days when you might be a bit off but I achieved my qualification time to get here."
