BRADLEY who?

Great Britain's cycling superman was a mere spectator as Victoria Pendleton and the men's team pursuit quartet claimed gold on another fantastic night for the sport, writes James Toney.

Australia's team pursuit squad, world champions for two of the past three years, have been dubbed "the boyband" for their youthful good looks but boybands soon go out of fashion and last night it was Ed Clancy, Geraint Thomas, Steven Burke and Pete Kennaugh who were setting the trend.

Pendleton also delivered in perhaps her weakest discipline, the keirin, leaving her rivals in her wake as she made up for the disappointment of the previous night's disqualification in the women's team sprint.

Expectation was high that Team GB's pursuit quartet would deliver after they announced their intent with a world record in qualifying and they duly delivered in a one-sided final against Australia.

"The last four years have all been about this moment, this programme is all about the Olympics and peaking here," said Clancy.

Pendleton's career has just days remaining but she insists she's not finished yet.

"I've not had 24 hours like this and I wouldn't want it again, I'm just glad to be retiring in a few days time," said Pendleton, who could become Britain's most successful woman Olympian if she wins the sprint next week.
