Rangers First eye further share deals after six-figure swoop
“Great news my £5 (and season ticket) and family members’ £18.72 in time will buy enough of Rangers for fans to have protection deciding shareholding. Well done all concerned. Now, what’s happening with the police investigation into Craig Whyte? Taking longer than a war inquiry!”

Jackson Irvine adamant Craig Gordon deserved to see red
“There didn’t seem to be much contact between Irvine and Gordon but irrespective Collum clearly thought it a foul and didn’t award a red because Van Dijk was beyond Gordon and would have been in a position to intercept. No red card was awarded to the Ross County captain after bringing down Griffiths and that was easily as tight a call, not sure if even a yellow was awarded. PS Jackson next time you’re looking for a penalty, make it a ‘Stonewaller’.

Andy Halliday setting his sights high at boyhood heroes Rangers
“My only concern is his enthusiasm might spill over into aggression if provoked.
“He needs to maintain a cool head because he will be targeted by other teams.
“If [John] Eustace joins, I see Halliday pushing a little further forward. Looks to be a good signing as do the three Wigan lads – [Rob] Kiernan, [Martyn] Waghorn and [James] Tavernier.
“Nothing but good news coming out of Scotland’s most successful team. The haters must be really miserable!”

John Collins admits Qarabag pitch has forced Celtic back to the tactics board
“Ah, the old pitch routine. A bit like the old Larsson or Sutton (& plenty others) is injured routine. Then, predictably, they always played on the Saturday. Aye, whatever!”
Keith William Hendry
Celtic given the green light to train on Qarabag’s damaged pitch
“My colleague here confirms that Celtic have a way to appeal the result in the event of defeat.
“Turns out that they have found out that the Azeri goalkeeper bought a new freezer last month and failed to fill in the guarantee form in the designated time allowed.
“This should ensure they have grounds for an appeal and any negative result will be overturned.”

Hateley: Rangers weren’t fit enough last season
“With the benefit of hindsight what could we expect with a temporary manager and almost an entire team that knew they were to be dumped? King has given Warburton a clean slate to work with and a season to get it right.
“We have a chairman that looks at Rangers as a football team, not a method of selling SportsDirect kit and a manager that is looking at relatively young players. No big news about crisis loans every month.
“The money is being provided as it’s needed even if some can’t understand that you don’t deposit 16 or 20 million before it’s required unless it is with a share issue.”

Ronny Deila believes changes behind the scenes are why Celtic have a clean bill of health
“Celtic look fitter than at any point in the past and it’s fascinating to hear Deila talking about the fitness and performance philosophy that underpins his stewardship.
“All very technical and all very well if we continue to win. Having personally been fully behind this huge culture change from the outset, and with the club now having the players closer to where it wants them to be in terms of lifestyle, it will be very interesting to judge the manager on the last piece of the jigsaw – the tactical side of things.”

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
