WORLD No 1 Paul Foster from Troon Portland followed his pairs partner Alex Marshall out of the principal singles championships at the Bowls Scotland National Championships at Northfield in Ayr, where he was beaten 21-14 in the second round by Eyemouth's Campbell McNeill.

Ten titles will be decided with both semi-finals and finals taking place today, but McNeill will not feature after he was ousted 21-10 by Turriff's Ian Murray in round three. Eaglesham's Alan Gray awaits Murray in the semi-final.

In the other half of the draw, Blackwood's Iain McLean defeated Graham Stewart from Arbroath 21-2, followed by a 21-14 victory ahead of Colin Mitchell from Carrick Knowe and will now meet William McKenzie from Cumnock.

In the junior singles, Rutherglen's Mark Kelsey defeated Law's Jonathan Wright 21-13 and now meets Lockerbie's Gary Robertson. Martin McCalley from Adrian and Derek Ferguson from Cumnock will contest the other semi-final.

Former world triples champion Billy Mellors teamed up with Alistair Kennedy for the pairs championship and the West Barns pair will tackle Anchor with the winner of the Dudhope and Newbattle confrontation providing the opposition in the final.

Isobel Laing from Elgin went out in the principal singles to Maxwelltown's Jane Telfer 21-19.Telfer now meets Cupar's Ruth Stewart, with defending champion Lorna Smith from Linlithgow meeting Kirsty Ann Gardiner from Orbiston.

Holders Leanne and Lauren Baillie from Cockenzie and Port Seton remain in contention for a fourth pairs title, while Chirnside's Helen Kenny, Veronica Cockburn, Kay Purves and Sheila Douglas are in the hunt for their third fours title in eight years when they play Townholm in today's final.
