Bowls: White finally emulates dad

Alastair White, from Kelso, emulated his father Roy's national singles win at Northfield yesterday when he lifted the Rosebery Trophy with a comfortable 21-10 victory over Hyndland's Kevin Bain.

White, a production planner for an electronics company, was just born when his father won the title in 1974 and yesterday he shook his head in disbelief and said: "This is an amazing coincidence. Just three weeks ago, my wife Jen gave birth to our second child Aaron, a brother for three-year-old Zoe.
