SIR Bradley Wiggins will lead Team Sky at the Tour of Britain as the eight-day race gets under way in Scotland on September 15.

The 2012 Tour de France and Olympic champion will be joined by fellow British riders Josh Edmondson and Ian Stannard alongside Australian Mathew Hayman, Spaniard David Lopez and Austrian Bernhard Eisel in the six-rider line-up.

Last year's Tour of Britain winner Jonathan Tiernan Locke, Olympic gold medallist Geraint Thomas and Australia's Chris Sutton have been named as reserves.

Race Director Mick Bennett said: "We are very pleased to welcome Sir Bradley Wiggins back to the Tour of Britain alongside what looks to be a very strong Sky line-up."

The 10th anniversary edition of the Tour will see the biggest ever field, with 114 riders from 19 teams confirmed.

Heading up the world class line-up alongside Sky will be a further four UCI ProTeams including Garmin-Sharp, Omega Pharma-QuickStep and Cannondale Pro Cycling.

The Spanish Movistar team will take part for the first time with two outfits new to the sport, Switzerland's IAM Cycling and Britiain's Madison-Genesis, also included.

Milan San Remo winners MTN-Qhubeka, Africa's first ever pro-continental cycling team, is confirmed to race as is Scottish-German squad NetApp-Endura.

The full provisional rider list for the 2013 Tour of Britain will be unveiled on Friday, September 6.

The opening stage will start from Peebles on September 15 before heading south-west to finish with a one-lap circuit at Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfriesshire.

Key towns and villages along the 201km (124mile) route will include Innerleithen, Selkirk, Hawick, Gretna, Annan and Dumfries.

This will be the fifth time in the last six years that the Scottish Borders and Dumfries & Galloway has played host to the Tour. Drumlanrig Castle last featured in 2008 when the race departed from Glasgow Green.
