Braehead Clan goaltender Kyle Jones has warned his teammates to take nothing for granted as they look to repeat last week's landslide against Hull and make it back into the thick of play-off action.

The Stingrays stand in the way of a second straight play-off semi-final appearance for Clan and their 31-year-old custodian. Jones loved the experience last season and admitted: "The play-offs are the most fun time of the year. "

Clan whipped Hull 9-4 in Glasgow last Saturday in the Elite League and Braehead's build-up has gone well. British Columbia-born Jones, selected as netminder in the first All-Star team voted for by the members of Ice Hockey Journalists UK, said: "We're not looking past them (Hull) and towards the semi-final.

"We know if we win four games then the trophy can be ours and we beat Hull 9-4 last week. They have dangerous players. I would love to go back to Nottingham. We had a great time last year even though we fell short in the semi final against the Steelers."

Elsewhere, Fife Flyers have to re-write the form book if they are to make the final four as they square-up to high-flying Sheffield Steelers.

The Yorkshire combine are favourites to lift a domestic double having recently been crowned Elite League champions.

The first-leg is at Kirkcaldy tonight (SAT, 7.15pm) and Flyers' passionate fans could play a major part as Fife bid to secure a vital advantage.

Danny Stewart, Fife's associate player/coach, remains positive despite Flyers failure to beat Steelers in the league so far this term.

And he claims he saw enough last weekend against Belfast Giants and particularly against Braehead Clan to give fans hope.

Stewart said: "I felt there were a lot of positives. We played two good teams and we competed.

"If we play with that same mentality and work rate and we limit the individual mistakes then I am confident we can challenge Sheffield."
