A centre to boost the treatment of infectious diseases in developing countries is to be created at a Scottish university.

The £6.5million facility at the University of Dundee will employ 11 scientists to study drug treatments for conditions such as tuberculosis, malaria and sleeping sickness.

The project is jointly funded by Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates and the Wellcome Trust.
