EDINBURGH'S David Florence has vowed to set the record straight at this week's European Slalom Championships in Markkleeberg, near Leipzig.

Despite claiming double gold at the 2013 Worlds in Prague and two Olympic silvers in Beijing and London, Florence has found European medals far more elusive.

"I've only won one individual medal, but I've come very close on a number of occasions," he pointed out. "Those small margins make all the difference in this sport. I've had a few fourths and fifths, but on another day I could easily have been on the podium."

Florence arrived in Germany last Sunday and is targeting double gold in the C1 singles and C2 doubles with Rich Hounslow. Competition gets underway on the River Pleisee tomorrow.
