Glasgow Rocks centre Paul Egwuonwu has been challenged to prove he has a future in professional basketball over the remainder of the BBL season by coach Sterling Davis.

The Canadian rookie is set to keep his starting spot for tonight's trip to bottom side Surrey United despite averaging less than three points per game over his last three outings.

But having brought Egwuonwu back for a second stint after axing him completely earlier in the campaign, Davis believes the 24-year-old - whose current deal ends next month - is starting to tap into his true potential.

"I'm happy he's picked the pace up," the American said. "We're a completely different team when he's playing how he's been lately. He's got a lot of potential, getting better game-to-game. The more he can contribute, and the more he gives us, the stronger it makes us and the tougher we are to beat because of his size and strength. And he's definitely going in the right direction."

With Surrey already eliminated from the BBL playoff race, a win for Glasgow would take them to within two points of securing a top eight spot with games in hand over all their rivals.

Elsewhere, Leicester Riders can move into third place with victory over London Lions.
