ALEX MORRISON believes Friday night's Thistle Hotel Show will provide another important step in the development of former Commonwealth Games starlets Charlie Flynn and Joe Ham.
Glasgow 2014 gold medallist Flynn will face Sheffield's Qasim Hussain in the third outing of his professional career at lightweight while Ham will look to take his unbeaten run in the paid punching ranks to four, when he meets Slovakian Elemir Rafael, with both fights over four rounds.
Morrison will also be giving a professional debut to another highly decorated Amateur, Craigmillar's Lewis Paulin, who famously decked Flynn in the 2012 Scottish Amateur final, and for whom the doyen of the Scottish fight game has high hopes.
Morrison said: "We had both Charlie and Joe on at the Thistle back in December and they helped make it a cracking night for the fans and it's great we have them both on again together on Friday. They are the future of Scottish professional boxing.
"With Charlie we are keeping him at four threes and not trying to do anything in a hurry. Hussain has had 34 fights and is another experienced opponent for Charlie to work out and continue his development while underlining how he is developing under Peter Harrison.
"With Joe, he stopped his first two opponents but couldn't do the same to his third and he has learned a lesson from that fight with the Hungarian (Aron Szilagyi) when he didn't get the stoppage and maybe forced things, that he has to be more patient and work his openings and that he isn't going to stop everyone he faces. So what I am looking for are clear signs of progression from both boys.
"We will also be giving Lewis Paulin a debut and I am particularly excited about that. Lewis is a slick southpaw and of course he once put Charlie down in the Amateurs and he is a young man whose style, I believe, will translate very well into the professionals like Flynn and Ham."
Former Scottish featherweight champion Jon Slowey will face Latvian Dimtrijs Gudmans as he looks for a convincing victory prior to a challenge for the European Union nine stone title while there will also be a professional debut at welterweight for Dougie Vincent and an outing for unbeaten bantamweight Scott McCormack .
