Newly-crowned European champion Rhona Auckland is to link up with Mo Farah in the Great Britain & Northern Ireland team at the Great Edinburgh cross-country on January 10.

The Edinburgh University student, who became only the second Scot to land a Euro Cross crown in Bulgaria last weekend, joins fellow gold medallist Gemma Steel in a 12-strong women's squad chosen to take on Europe and the USA.

While Scottish trio Callum Hawkins, Andy Butchart and Luke Caldwell will line up beside Farah in the men's team with the double Olympic champion set to make his 40th appearance in national colours.

"I'm looking forward to returning to the Great Edinburgh XCountry to kick off my season," said Farah. "For many years I ran cross country to build my base for the summer track season, and it will be nice to return to Edinburgh and try to repeat my winning run of 2011 there."

Inverclyde's Scottish junior hopeful Jonny Glen gets a call-up for the 6k junior event at the televised meeting while Jessica Judd will get her senior cross-country debut.

"It's great to see such depth in the GB & NI team," UK Athletics endurance chief Barry Fudge said. "With the great performances in Bulgaria combined with a number of strong additions to the team, I am confident that we can be competitive against what will be strong American and European teams."
