Scott Harrison, the former World Boxing Organisation featherweight champion from Cambuslang, will make a return to the ring this evening following an absence of more than six years, writes Jim Black.

Harrison, pictured left, has added considerable intrigue to promoter Alex Morrison's bill at Gorbals Leisure Centre by agreeing to box an exhibition bout.

He had been scheduled to make his comeback at the Kelvin Hall on June 8, but he has jumped at the chance to rid himself of at least some of his ring rustiness as he attempts to put his career back on track.

Harrison has not boxed competitively since November 2005 when he outpointed the Australian Nedal Hussein in the last of his 10 WBO featherweight title bouts.

Meanwhile, Highland heavyweight Gary Cornish racked up his seventh straight win last night when he stopped Hungarian Laszlo Peczeli in Inverness.

The 25-year-old floored Peczeli after 15 seconds of the second round when he executed the perfect left, right combination after softening up his opponent. Cornish had already had Peczeli down in the first with a left hook before delivering his knock-out blow.

Peczeli was clearly in trouble when he was rocked by three big rights at the end of the opening three minutes as Cornish went to work in search of a quick stoppage and was unable to offer any worthwhile resistance.

Local welterweight Alastair "Jasper" Chisholm took less than four minutes to dispose of Gary Collins of Melrose.
