Gordon Shepherd, Scotland women`s head coach, has recruited the Germans to assist in their warm-weather training camp in Valencia, the start of the build-up for the European Nations Championships in London this summer.

Shepherd has just announced a squad of 23 players to travel to Valencia at the end of next month.

The Scotland coach intends to work very closely with the German squad in integrated training sessions. "Our players will learn a huge amount training alongside the very experienced German squad who will be preparing for their Olympic Qualifier in Valencia in June." In addition, the Scots will play three friendly games against the world number seven.

"We will work on areas we have identified that need improving and also expose the young, less experienced players to a hard, but hugely beneficial preparation camp," Shepherd added.

"Given the number of retirements afrter the Commonwealth Games, there is now a great opportunity for players to domonstrate their potential and put themselves in the selection window for the international matches later in the year."

The Scottish contingent will be without certain key personel for the trip to Valencia, Emily Maguire, Morag McLellan, Sarah Robertson and goalkeeper Amy Gibson are now under the Great Britain mantle at Bisham Abbey. Also Becky Ward and Jenny Morris are unavailable due to work and studies commitments respectively while Mairi Drummond is still recovering from injury.
