SCOTLAND'S men's hockey team completed the treble over the Czech Republic with a 6-1 victory in the final test match at Glasgow Green.
The fact they scored 24 goals in the three matches must be a source of considerable encouragement for their coach, Derek Forsyth, prior to the European Nations Championships next month.
The goal feast seemed to dry up in a scrappy first period where the Czechs had a fair share of the play and only a couple of saves from David Forrester, the Scotland goalkeeper, kept them out.
However, the hosts opened the scoring midway through the half. Alan Forsyth eluded a couple of defenders as he made a strong run across the circle and his shot was deflected home by Wei Adams.
The Scots upped their game after the interval and soon doubled their lead. Willie Marshall's penalty corner shot was blocked but Kenny Bain followed up to score from close range.
A strong run by Bain opened up the Czech defence and he released the ball to Murray Collins who fired a low shot home for his first Scotland goal.
A brilliant attacking move involving four players resulted in Scotland's fourth goal. Hamish Imrie's final pass took out the goalkeeper and Chris Grassick, the captain tapped into the open goal.
David Vacek pulled one back for the Czechs at a penalty corner but Nicky Parkes deflected in another Marshall penalty corner and near the end Imrie tapped home after Forsyth had robbed a Czech defender.
Forsyth said: "It was a good three days and a step up from last weekend's games against Wales. We must build on this as we prepare for Prague."
