Andrew Lemoncello's bid to recapture past glories has suffered another setback after the Scot was forced to pull out of tomorrow's Berlin Marathon, writes Mark Woods.

The Olympian, 31, has only been able to race sporadically over the past three years with a series of injuries limiting his ability to train at full tilt. Now his quest to complete 26 miles for the first time since 2011 has been put on hold with doctors at his base in Arizona diagnosing a hernia repair that will see the Great Britain internationalist go under the knife next week before a lengthy period of recovery. He said: "I'm taking two months off. But I'm looking forward to starting from scratch and setting new goals."

Lemoncello was 12th over 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in one of only three track outings in 2014.
