IT’s JUST NOT CRICKET

ThE first thing which needs to be stated about the ICC's decision to cut the number of teams in the next World Cup to 10 – and with no qualifying tournament – is that it contravenes all the qualities which are supposed to embody the best of international sport.

At a stroke, the governing body, in thrall to India, have effectively told the likes of Kevin O’Brien, George Dockrell, Majid Haq and Richie Berrington: “We don’t care about you. If you want to play in a future World Cup, go and try your luck with England.”
