Andrew Lemoncello has insisted his injury woes are behind him as he prepares to return to the UK and launch his quest to earn a place at the Rio Olympics.

The Arizona-based Scot, 32, has confirmed he will race the Morrison's Great Edinburgh Run on April 19 after starting his comeback at next week's Brighton 10k.

It has been a miserable three years for the 2008 Olympian who has failed to complete a marathon since Fukuoka four years ago.

But after shrugging off a further series of knocks and setbacks since coming 12th over 10000 metres at the Commonwealth Games, the Fifer believes a return to home soil can spur on his quest to return to the top.

"It's a great opportunity for me to race in Scotland again and it will give me a good feel for where I am fitness-wise," he told AW. "It'll really kick off the season for me.

"I had to take three months off after the Commonwealth Games and things have been coming along really well since I started back in the new year. The plan is to try to give myself two opportunities to qualify for the Olympic marathon: hopefully one in September-October time this year and then maybe London next April."
