Top-ranked Scot Stephen Maguire survived a minor scare before qualifying for the German Masters in Wigan last night.

Last week's Lisbon Open winner led Irishman David Morris 3-1 but lost the next three frames to stand on the verge of defeat. Maguire then used all his experience to nick the last two frames and go through 5-4.

Glasgow's Fraser Patrick lost by the same score to world number 14 Joe Perry after leading 4-1, while Musselburgh teenager Ross Muir was beaten 5-1 by London's Martin Gould.
