IT is always disappointing for racehorse owners when their pride and joy goes off the boil, so to speak, and becomes a shadow of its previous self.

That is the scenario with regards to Victoire De Lyphar, who runs off a 9lb lower mark than when unplaced in the Stewards' Cup last year, but he travels to Goodwood today having had his best run for some time when second to Colonel Mak at Hamilton.
