The 41-year-old made his representation via conference call at the Medical Committee of the French racing authority, France Galop, in Paris on Tuesday.
However, the file has been passed on to the French stewards, who will pass judgment within a fortnight.
A statement from France Galop read: "Following yesterday's examination of the file and after having duly notified the jockey Lanfranco Dettori of its decision, the Medical Committee has temporarily suspended the said jockey from riding in races in France, based on medical grounds. According to article 143 of the Rules of Racing, the Medical Committee's report has been passed on to the France Galop stewards.
"The France Galop stewards will be studying the file within the next fortnight before deciding what action will be taken in accordance with the Rules of Racing."
Meanwhile, rain, and loads of it, has caused havoc with this afternoon's programme, with the meetings at Wincanton and Hereford sunk without trace, while officials at Market Rasen announced a precautionary inspection for 8am ahead of their scheduled meeting.
* Rayson Nixon's Selkirk raider Gymdoli sprung a 125-1 upset yesterday under Barry Keniry in the EBF At The Races 'National Hunt' Novices' Hurdle at Hexham.
The five-year-old was given a prominent ride and rallied bravely to beat the favourite Dotties Dilema by two-and-a-quarter lengths.
Nixon's wife, Susan, said: "I had £2 each-way on him and I've never lifted so much money in my life.
"I bred him myself and it only cost £400 to get his dam covered at the stud. He loved the heavy going and we made a lot more use of him today."
