Irish trainer Gordon Elliott has another strong team in action at Perth this afternoon, his latest raiding party spearheaded by Carlito Brigante in the Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer Novices' Chase.

The 2011 Coral Cup hero at the Cheltenham Festival has won one of his two starts over fences and Elliott said: "He won comfortably first time at Killarney but it was a little too soft at Kilbeggan and he's a good-ground horse. He's in very good form, so we're looking for a decent run."

Jockey Tom Scudamore, who rides chasing newcomer The Tracey Shuffle for David Pipe in the same race, is sure of a good run. He said: "He's schooled well over fences at home and I'm hopeful he will run well. His hurdle form was very good last season but it tailed off a bit after Punchestown."

Of his other runners, Elliott said: "We also have Beef To The Heels and he shouldn't be far away in the second race. Captain Pierce has his debut in the bumper and he's got a chance if the rain stays away."

At yesterday's meeting, Paul O'Brien enjoyed the first win of his career under rules on just his second ride when steering home Mulligan's Way in the Better Prices On Betfair Mobile Novices' Hurdle. O'Brien, who is based with trainer Donald McCain, has been successful six times in Irish point-to-point races.

Jason Maguire stole the show with a 27-1 treble aboard Esporao, Definite All Star and Indepub. The first leg brought up his half century and Maguire said: "I was injured for three months last year so didn't return until mid-November. Things are going great."
