Hannah Russell and Bethany Firth both set new world records in their classes in the 100 metres backstroke at the British Para-Swimming International Meet in Glasgow on Saturday.
Russell, competing in the S12 class, beat her own world record by 1.5 seconds as she touched the wall in 1 minute 6.15 seconds to win gold in a faster time than any qualification for the IPC Swimming World Championships.
Firth, in the S14 class, took two seconds off the previous standard to finish in 1:04.70 to secure silver.
Russell said: "I wanted to swim quicker than my PB or to deliver a PB but to be quite honest I felt strong in my warm up so I was hoping for a performance like that and to have Bethany beside me was great. We broke the world record together."
Firth added: "I'm really happy with all of my swims but I really don't think that I would have been able to swim that if Hannah Russell hadn't been beside me breaking her world record as well.
"The Backstroke is one that is special to my heart I really enjoy swimming it so I am so glad to have gone and done that there.
"I really wasn't expecting that. It was a massive PB for me and I was feeling a bit sluggish this morning after all the races but my coach really picked me up and told me to just go for it and with Hannah swimming beside me it really helped."
Chloe Davies (S14) won bronze after touching in 1:08.05.
