As David Bogie tackles the Snowman rally today at the start of the Scottish Rally Championship, though, he is realistic enough to know the landscape has changed.
Not that the reigning Scottish and British champion will be looking down his nose at today's stages in Inverness-shire, or wishing he was somewhere else. For Bogie, this annual season opener is a barn-stormer, equal to any of the rallies he and co-driver Kevin Rae tackled last year in an epic two-pronged challenge.
