Glasgow Rocks chairman Ian Reid has revealed talks over the future of player-coach Sterling Davis have been put on ice, leaving the American's tenure up in the air with barely a month of the season remaining.

The position of Davis, whose current deal expires in the summer, is likely to come under review following seven years at the helm that have seen the BBL outfit fail to land a major silverware despite one of the league's largest budgets.

However Reid claims the major changes that could arise from a proposal to inject up to £30 million into the sport from a New York-based equity fund will sway him against any quick decisions.

"We have had some initial discussions with Sterling," he said. "But we've put them on hold for now because the prospective involvement from American investors has muddied the water."

The former banker, who has been a part-owner of the Rocks since their inception in Edinburgh 17 years ago, has also confirmed he may opt to cash in on his 50% share of the club once the picture of the BBL's future clears up.

"I'm not actively looking to sell out but I'd listen to anyone who wants to talk," he added. "And it's true to say there have been a number of interested parties who have come to speak to us."

Meanwhile it has been confirmed that England Basketball's chief executive Huw Morgan has stepped down, weeks after it was revealed he was directly involved in the potential American takeover of the sport despite his parallel role in awarding the license to operate the UK's professional league.

"He was brought in to do a job and he did it," said a Basketball England director. "But we all realised there was a conflict of interest there. So he's done the right thing."
