Glasgow Rocks bid to clinch a BBL playoff place suffered a setback last night as Sterling Davis' men crashed 77-68 to Cheshire Phoenix at the Emirates Arena.
Another sub-par offensive showing left the Scots struggling to keep up with the visitors who moved up into third in the BBL.
And although Jonny Bunyan fired a team-best 17 points for Glasgow, their starters were held to just 37 in total as Cheshire pulled away with an 8-0 run in the third quarter after the rivals were tied at 32-32 at half-time.
It leaves the Rocks in sixth place, still two wins away from securing their post-season berth. But point guard Reggie Middleton insists they can finish off the league season on a roll.
"Every game is basically about setting ourselves up for the play-offs," the American said. "If we have a good spirit, a good mind, then we'll keep the momentum we've built up. Going into the play-offs, we want to feel we have a chance to win it. We don't want to go into that on a downer."
Dustin Salisbery hit a game-high 22 points for the Phoenix.
Elsewhere, Worcester Wolves hopes of catching leaders Newcastle were knocked with an 88-70 loss at London Lions.
