Glasgow Rocks suffered a second half meltdown at Sheffield Sharks last night as the Scots were edged out 91-88 in a thrilling finish to end their two-month winning streak in the British Basketball League.

Sterling Davis' men - paced by 19 points from Danny Huffor - seemed set to cruise to within one win of securing their BBL play-off spot when they surged 63-46 in front with 14 minutes left.

But a 9-0 run gave Sheffield hope and they cut the Rocks lead to 71-62 at the start of the fourth quarter.

And in a frenetic climax, Jonny Bunyan missed a last-gasp shot to send the content into overtime with seconds remaining as the Sharks, led by a game-high 22 points apiece from BJ Holmes and Mike Tuck, completed their comeback.

The Rocks will now bid to bounce back when they host Cheshire Phoenix tomorrow with Tommy Freeman admitting Glasgow owe their high-flying rivals some payback.

"Last time they absolutely hammered us by 30 at their place," Freeman said. "They've been a little up and down but we just have to come out and play the brand of basketball we've been doing."

Elsewhere Newcastle Eagles closed in on the title by hammering Surrey United 101-62 while Worcester Wolves kept their slim championship hopes alive by thrashing Leeds Force 84-54.

- Reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder was last night ruled out of the rest of the season after undergoing foot surgery.
