TEENAGE striker Greg Matheson was a four-goal hero for Lovat as the Kiltarlity side produced the result of the day in the Orion Premiership, thrashing Fort William 6-0 at An Aird.

It was Fort William's heaviest defeat of the season and relegation alarm bells will be ringing after a lacklustre performance in front of their own supporters.

Matheson struck for the first time in the 31st minute but there was little hint of a Fort collapse to come. However, his second goal, in the 49th minute, signalled the start of a disastrous spell for the home side. Matheson completed his hat-trick two minutes later and Kevin Bartlett and Lorne MacKay added further goals in quick succession. Matheson had the final say when he knocked in his fourth 15 minutes from time.

Newtonmore ended Inveraray's unbeaten run, winning 4-1 at the Winterton. Goals from Michael Russell, Calum Binnie, Danny MacRae and Chris Sellar took the defending champions back to the top of the table.

Kyles Athletic's challenge faded as they lost 3-2 at Kingussie. The Badenoch side trailed to a Roberto Zavaroni double but Fraser Munro scored a minute before the interval and two Rory Borthwick goals in two minutes after the restart turned the match on its head.

Glenurquhart edged to their second win of the season, a hard-fought 2-0 success over Oban Camanachd. Goals from Neale Reid and David Smart sealed the points and left Oban in serious relegation trouble.
