Holders Glenurquhart are out of the Artemis MacAulay Cup after Lovat won 4-2 at Balgate.

Neale Reid fired the Glen into the lead in the seventh minute but Lovat's Martin Mainland levelled five minutes before the interval. Glenurquhart's David Smart looked to have given his side a crucial advantage with a goal 25 minutes from time but in a dramatic four-minute spell Lovat won the game, scoring three times through Greg Matheson (2) and Kevin Bartlett.

Lovat will play Kinlochshiel for a place in the North Area final after the Wester Ross side came from behind to beat Kingussie 4-3 at the Dell.

Competition favourites Newtonmore struggled to subdue a lively Lochaber side. Even after Fraser MacKintosh had fired Newtonmore into the lead with almost an hour played the outcome remained in the balance until a hat-trick from Danny MacRae and a late strike from Glen MacKintosh edged them into the next round where they will face Fort William.

The Fort put their league problems behind them as they enjoyed a 4-1 win over Kilmallie. Gary Innes scored twice and Daniel Stewart was also on target. Kilmallie defender Iain Robertson put through his own net before Mark Graham scored a late consolation for the Area League side.

Two first-round ties in the South section failed to go ahead but Inveraray and Oban Camanachd are through after wins over Glasgow Mid Argyll and Glenorchy. Beauly are through to the last 16 of the Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup following a 5-2 win over Strathglass. They will play Oban Camanachd at home.
