David Smith dismissed suggestions of a brewing Great Britain versus Germany Paralympics rowing rivalry but is determined to follow up on the host country's nine-medal Olympic success at Eton Dorney.

The Aviemore rower, along with James Roe, Pamela Relph, Beijing 2008 bronze medallist Naomi Riches and cox Lily van den Broecke stormed to victory in their heat yesterday, clocking 3:23.59 minutes to take their place in tomorrow's final. The British quartet are the world champions, having secured victory in Slovenia last year. The German four clocked a world's best of 3:15.91 in their heat but Smith says there's nothing to fear.
