Title for Hogg and Dawson

Karen Dawson and Stuart Hogg from the Denny club are the new Bowls Scotland National Mixed Pairs champions, beating Paisley Victoria's Anne Marie Fletcher and her partner John Adam in yesterday's title decider at Bainfield.

The Stirling East District 10 winners started with a 21-10 victory over Rita Smith and Aaron Hazel from Polmaise and followed that with a 24-5 success over Kilmacolm pair Lorna Gallacher and Grant Craig and a 17-13 win over Susan Agnew and David Palmer from Fairlie.

In the semi-finals they then cruised to a 26-7 win against Aberchirder's Ruby Paterson and Willie Beaton.

They continued that fine form in the final, scoring five shots over two of the last five ends to seal a 21-14 win with an end to spare.

The Paisley duo had reached the final with a 16-8 semi-final win over Christine Tennant and Keith Shuttleworth from New Abbey in Dumfries.
