Colin Bellshaw, owner of the St Andrew's Sporting Club, has lined up Tommy Hearns, the six-time, five-weight world champion, as guest of honour at Monday's dinner show in Glasgow's Radisson Blue Hotel.

Hearns will speak about his career before two Scots, Jamie Wilson and Stuart Green, fight for British Masters titles.

Bellshaw, who recently bought the club along with his business partner, Iain Wilson, said: "We've always had the history of bringing in celebrity guests of honour. We had another world champion in Lennox Lewis and people like Sir Alex Ferguson, Walter Smith and Henry Cooper; that's what makes the club so great for our fans.

"This is only the second show since we bought the club, but when the opportunity came to have Tommy here, we jumped at the chance. We're fight fans ourselves, so we want to meet him as much as the fans.

"We're going to hear about some of the massive fights he was involved in. Obviously [Marvin] Hagler was one of the big ones, as well as the trilogy with [Sugar Ray] Leonard. Hearing the inside story is such an amazing opportunity and not something any boxing fan would want to pass up.

"I was a Sugar Ray Leonard fan, but I was also a Hearns fan and a [Roberto] Duran fan. I liked them all, but Hearns was extra special because he fought in four different decades, which is quite incredible. There are not many boxers who have had that sort of longevity at that level."

Of the boxing, he added: "Jamie is fighting Brett Fidoe over eight rounds and it will be his first title shot. He's an exciting fighter and we're happy to give him the platform as we love watching him. Stuart is Scottish champion and has been out the ring for a while with injury so it will be good for him to fight again."
