Women's hockey: Scotland 7 Brazil 0

Scotland notched up a second seven-goal win in Rio de Janeiro yesterday, a result that leaves Gordon Shepherd's charges in pole position on goal difference from their main rivals United States and Chile.

Scotland pressed throughout the first half but a series of missed chances – they had only a single goal from 12 penalty corners, and two in total – left Shepherd frustrated.

At the second penalty corner, Nikki Kidd's initial shot was blocked and Catriona Ralph's follow-up conversion was considered dangerous. The opening goal came in eight minutes, when Ali Bell created the opening and slipping the ball to Vikki Bunce who fired low under the keeper.
