In football it is the manager who usually carries the can and in racing it is often the jockey.

After two falls in his previous three starts, Cue Card will have a different jockey when he runs in the Betfair Chase at Haydock later this month.

Harry Cobden will replace Paddy Brennan who has ridden Cue Card in his last 13 races, which included a fall in the Charlie Hall at Wetherby last Saturday.

There have been plenty of good days with five Grade One victories, most notably in the last two renewals of the Betfair Chase and in the 2015 King George VI Chase at Kempton. However, Colin Tizzard, Cue Card’s trainer, said: "We're going to change the jockey. Paddy's had a good go on him and fell a few times.

"Young Harry Cobden had a school on him this morning, he only did that because the horse was so well. We said "just have a little jump round on him" and we thought we'd let him have a feel and the horse is in lovely form.

"It's three times he's fallen now so we'll put someone fresh on. It's no detriment to Paddy but we owe the horse. Sometimes enough is enough, so we'll see what happens."

Cobden, last season’s champion conditional jockey, has ridden nine of his 19 winners this season for Tizzard.

Cue Card is among 26 entries for the 32Red King George VI Chase on Boxing Day along with stable companion Thistlecrack, last season’s winner.
