THE Scottish sprinting duo of Alisha Rees and Michael Olsen have both been selected to represent GB and NI at the Mannhein Gala this weekend.

The Edinburgh AC pair have are part of a 20-strong under-20 team for the international event in Germany, which is one of the most prestigious in the junior athletics calendar and is part of the preparations for the World Junior Championships next month.

Rees, who is now based at Loughborough University, has already amassed significant international experience, including winning a relay medal at the European U20s last summer, and will run the 200m and the 4 x 100m this weekend while Olsen will compete in the 100m and the 4x100m.

Team Leader for the British juniors, Trevor Painter, said: :We’ve selected a strong team for the Mannheim Gala. There will be a focus on the sprints and the 4 x 100m teams and Mannheim will allow athletes to benefit from going up against some strong international competition.
