A SECOND defeat in a few days in Wales, but Edinburgh will take consolation from the way 15 men survived the final 20 minutes and even had the last word with the final try.

Admittedly it was a battle against the odds from the start and a bonus point win was the least the Ospreys deserved, but Edinburgh stuck to their task when it would have been all too easy to fold.

Edinburgh had only had a five day turnaround from last Sunday's defeat at the Dragons, as it happened if they had stayed in Wales for the week it would have saved on any cryotherapy treatment in the freezing conditions but not much else.

Even with better , this would have been a tricky fixture for Edinburgh against a team flying high after winning in Glasgow last weekend and chasing top spot in the table.

The first few minutes backed up that expectation with a Sam Davies penalty from in front of the posts, but it was Edinburgh who looked like the table toppers when superb passing skills released left wing William Helu to score in the corner.

On such a brisk night it obviously was not a time for wings to stay freezing and passive out wide, Ospreys left wing Dafydd Howells bursting through the midfield coming from the blindside and ripping his way through the Edinburgh defence for a 40 yard run to the line.

He may have been taking advantage of a defence that had not reorganised fully from Dean's departure, but nevertheless it was a seven point swing with Davies adding the conversion.

Worse followed with the Edinburgh scrum creaking on their own line meaning the ball popped out uncontrolled for home No.8 Dan Baker to pick up and score the easiest of tries.

Edinburgh's riposte had an element of good fortune, right wing Damian Hoyland colliding with Ospreys full back Dan Evans while a kick was in the air with the ball bouncing into the arms of Kinghorn who had the pace to make it to the corner.

While the Ospreys fans were booing the TMO decision, Duncan Weir rubbed salt in the wound by landing he touchline conversion.

The Ospreys forward power paid off again, with Davies kicking penalties to the corner with pinpoint accuracy, as a lineout drive ended with tighthead Ma'afu Fia getting over for the try.

Just before the break Weir kept his team in touch with a penalty for offside.

The Ospreys scored their bonus point try fur minutes after the start of the second half, the deadlock on the Edinburgh line being broken by a superb piece of soft hands by Wales and Lions lock Alun Wyn Jones which released wing Keelan Giles. Davies again converted.

Edinburgh's penalty count against was substantial and saw first lock Grant Gilchrist and then prop Alan Dell sent to the bin for persistent infringing. Edinburgh held out impressively and then managed a try of their own by Fijian replacement Viliame Mata.
