PETER Horne risks missing out on Scotland's Six Nations campaign after being ruled out with a serious injury, while teammate Rory Hughes also faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The internationalists had to be stretchered off during last Friday's Pro12 defeat to Munster and the club today confirmed that Horne will be out for 16 weeks and Hughes for eight weeks.

Horne is receiving medical care at BMI Ross Hall Hospital as his ankle injuries require surgical treatment and he is expected to not be involved in matches for the next four months, which would rule him out of contention for the Six Nations campaign starting in February.

Hughes is also currently receiving surgery for his knee injury and is expected to be out for a maximum of eight weeks.

However, Warriors also revealed on Wednesday that several players are close to returning from knocks.

A club statement read: "Adam Ashe has stepped up his comeback from a hip injury and is being integrated back into training with the squad.

"Second-rows Tjiuee Uanivi, Scott Cummings and Greg Peterson, along with centre Richie Vernon are progressing well with their rehab following shoulder injuries and are working on fitness with the club’s strength and conditioning team, ahead of a return early in the New Year.

"Winger Leonardo Sarto is progressing well under the guidance of the medical team following shoulder surgery last month."
