EDINBURGH RUGBY have secured the services of Scotland international Hamish Watson until 2019 after the flanker penned a two-year contract extension on Monday.
The 25-year-old earned his first professional deal with the capital club in 2014 and has been a standout performer for Duncan Hodge's side this season.
Watson started all three of Scotland's Autumn Tests at the end of last year and has represented his country a total of five times since making his international debut in February 2015.
"I’m absolutely delighted to be staying at Edinburgh," he told the club's official website.
"It’s a great club with a great squad, coaching team and backroom staff, and I love the city.
“I feel that this club is right for me to continue developing my game, and a place for me to stay and build on my Scotland caps.
“The club is going in the right direction and there’s a lot that can be achieved with this squad, and that’s something I want to be a part of in the coming seasons.”
Acting Head Coach Duncan Hodge, who succeeded Alan Solomons earlier this season, was delighted to secure another of his key players after the likes of Magnus Bradbury and Blair Kinghorn also committed their futures recently.
“Hamish is an outstanding individual, who gives everything for the team every time he’s on the park," said Hodge.
“He has worked extremely hard to develop his game over the last couple of seasons, and his efforts have paid dividends as he continues to perform and improve in an Edinburgh jersey.
“As a coaching team, we are delighted Hamish has committed to the club for a further two seasons.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
