GLASGOW lock Brian Alainu’uese has had his suspension for foul play cut from three weeks to two at an appeal hearing in Cardiff. As the 22-year-old has already served one week of his ban, he will be available to play in the Warriors’ Champions Cup match in Leicester in eight days’ time. A complete lifting of the suspension would have freed Alainu’uese to play against Munster tomorrow.

“The Appeal Panel determined that an act of foul play occurred [in the league match against Treviso] which was worthy of a red card,” PRO12 announced. “The Panel considered it to be a low entry point with a sanction of two weeks.

“There were no aggravating circumstances but insufficient mitigation to reduce from two weeks. Having already served one week of his suspension the player will be free to play from Monday January 16, 2017.”
