Perpignan rejected the one-time Lions scrum-half because they wanted a top-flight half-back with goal- kicking talent. Brive have been relegated to the second tier and have earmarked Blair as a man who can play a big part in taking them back up at the first attempt.

Blair to stay with Brive
Mike Blair's hopes of joining Perpignan have been dashed and he now looks certain to lead Brive's quest to return to the French top flight.
