However, in saying his team were unfairly denied set-piece possession he conceded that the official had undermined his side's prospects in their RBS 6 Nations defeat to Wales at Murrayfield yesterday.
In a match that produced 28 penalties – a record 18 of which led to kicks at goal – the Scots were punished severely in the scrum, leading Johnson to suggest they are not being given a fair crack of the whip in that area.
