Edinburgh will make a temporary return to the ground that was their first professional home following confirmation that their Guinness PRO12 clash with current league leaders Ospreys will take place at Myreside next month.

The Watsonians ground was earmarked as the capital side's headquarters in the early years of professionalism, and they played the bulk of their games there from 1996 onwards, before moving to Meadowbank at the start of season 2002-03. Their last outing at Myreside was a pre-season friendly against Harlequins in 2009.

The Ospreys match will take place on Friday 13 February. As Scotland will host Wales at BT Murrayfield two days later, the national stadium is unavailable to the club that weekend.

The decision to move to Myreside follows last season's successful experiment of taking two games to the nearby Meggetland ground, home of Boroughmuir.

No official capacity has been established for Myreside, although it has been variously reported at between 5,000 and 8,000 in the past. Edinburgh have confirmed that season ticket holders will be accommodated in the main stand and that a park-and-ride shuttle will operate from Murrayfield.
