European rugby's 'productive' meeting

Officials emerged from a five-hour meeting in Dublin yesterday claiming negotiations on the way forward for European rugby had been "productive" and promising to talk further next month, writes Kevin Ferrie.

In an inevitable retreat from the bullish rhetoric of last week when first the English Premiership and then ERC, the organisers of the Heineken Cup, claimed to have agreed new, but quite separate broadcasting deals beyond 2014, the tone of the post-meeting bulletin was conciliatory.
